Introduction of Chaoyang City Library 

Chaoyang City Library is a public welfare cultural institution of deputy county – level, affiliated to the Bureau of Culture and Broadcast Press and Publication of Chaoyang City, which is the center of literature collection, information dissemination, interlibrary cooperation, business research and sevice exchange in Chaoyang area. Chaoyang City Library was founded in October 1959, in June 2010 moved to the new museum. Chaoyang City Library New Museum is of 8064 square meters with 5 layers, located in the west of Culture and Broadcast and Television building between the beautiful Phoenix Mountain and Linghe River. On August 1 2012, the new museum was officially open to the community. 

Workforce and department settings: 

There are 38 aurhorized personnel in Chaoyang City Library, including 2 research librarians, 6 deputy research librarian and 17 librarians. There are nine functional departments, editorial department, counseling department, information department, activity planning department, circulation department, modernization technology department, reading department, children's department and general office. 

Collection of literature 

There are about 41 million copies (pieces) of literature collection in Chaoyang City Library, of which more than 360,000 ordinary Chinese books, 30,000 periodicals and newspapers, more than 5,000 local literature, 5,000 copies of electronic literature and over 5,000 pieces of audio-visual literature. Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature and Existing directory of Complete Library in the Four Branches of Literature  (wenyuange photocopy) are the town treasures of Chaoyang City Library. Chaoyang City Library's existing digital resources include Liaoning Provincial Library Electronic Resource Access System, Promotion Activity of Basic Library Digital Resource, National Cultural Information Resource Sharing Project Resource Service, Knowledge Horizon, Cloud Digital Library and two digital reading machines. Concerned about the official WeChat and microblog, it's authoritied to use the resources of micro reading in blog, Vip digital resources, knowledge horizon and nezha reading. 

Service window 

There are 452 reading seats and 16 service windows including Children's literature borrowing room, electronic reading room, film screening room, barrier-free reading room, new magazine reading area, borrowing area, reference book reading area, migrant workers reading angle, library circulation station borrowing room, social science literature borrowing area, natural science literature borrowing area, local literature reading room, Sikuquanshu and depositary  reading room, decision-making reference reading room, reader self-study room and reception desk . Chaoyang City Library services from the early 8:30 to 18:00 (Wednesday afternoon closed). Collection of ordinary books and all newspapers are executed in open-shelf free borrowing within a card in the whole library.

In order to service the people far away and special groups, Chaoyang City Library has established 58 book circulation stations including Sanitation workers branch, labor camp, detention center, Sunjiawan left children School, deaf and mute school, calligraphy and painting association of senior citizens, garrison 8621 troops and the Changjiang River community with services throughout the community, rural, schools, military camps, enterprises and other fields. Sanitation workers branch was configurated with about 5000 books, an electronic reader. Every year Chaoyang City Library circulates books for the branch and mobile circulation station. 

Readers 'services and activities 

In order to allow more people to understand and use the library, a variety of readers activities will be held every year here, such as knowledge lectures, special training, seminars, large-scale exhibition, the Spring Festival prize guessing, excellent books recommending, knowledge contest, prize essay, film screening, etc. which effective plays the library's role in social education function. In addition, the city library is also active in providing reference information for the PRC and government leadership in decision-making; practical information and tracking service for practical information in rural areas; living knowledge, health knowledge information services for the community residents; "Friends of the elderly readers" for the elderly readers; setting up the "Friends of the elderly cultural salon" and "Forum" activities irregularly;, carrying out cultural activities for the disabled to warm their and heart, light life for them; extracurricular activities for minors and so on. In addition, the city library has carried out the conference services for "National People's Congress" and "CPPCC" since 2014 for four consecutive years. These activities have achieved excellent social benefits, which Chaoyang Daily , Chaoyang TV, Yandu Morning News  and many other news media have repeatedly reported. 

Library website and official microblogging, WeChat service 

Chaoyang City Library website was established in 2007, with the management by specialized personnel. Home navigation is divided into the map profile, digital resources, the reader garden, information consultation, service guide, learn to build and children's world. In 2011, library official microblogging in Sina opened as well as the Wechat micro-service platform in 2015. Through the website, microblogging, WeChat, there is a variety of library information, recommended books, to answer readers released timely. Readers can also use the mobile phone login WeChat platform for accessing to library literature, the new book recommended , readers activities and other information. 

Achievements and honors 

In all walks of the care and support of the broad masses of readers, Chaoyang City Library has made some achievements, access to nearly 100 awards around. It's repeatedly won the provincial and municipal advanced units of the honorary title of spiritual civilization and in the three business competitions of Liaoning Provincial Public Libraries won good results the second and fourth in group score. In 2009 it won the advanced collective honorary title in national cultural system.
